Home Brewing

Last night I began my first venture into home beer brewing. My first attempt is the warm and malty SCOTCH ALE - in other words: LOTS of malt and grain, very little hops (as seen below).



The wort is a-brewin'...



And of course you can't MAKE beer without enjoying some at the same time. I had a couple of my beer buddies over and we knocked out some leftover growlers from the Lafayette Brewing Company (The 85, Prophet's Rock Pale Ale, and the Phoenix Strong Ale).



And since there wasn't much in the growlers to begin with and they emptied very quickly, we had to go with SOMETHING else, so we figured what the hell, let's just open up one of the stored Dark Lord Stouts.



And now we wait!

Cool! There's a place down the street from us now that sells wine-making supplies... I've thought that might be fun. Beer-making, too, but wine's more my cup of...tea. (Except for a good hoppy IPA now and then...)

Looking good! My DH just bottled some 2 weeks ago. A Grand Cru (sp?). It tastes fantastic, fruity overtones (from cumin and orange peel).

Someone I know, her DH bent the electric stove burners cooking beer! LOL

p.s., a motto from an old home brewing book DH has:

"relax, have a home brew"

Trev, I love reading your blog. There's something very light-hearted and refreshing, and at the same time quite profound about it. I'm a tee-totaller, I don't drink at all, but I have to say, reading articles like this one makes me want to start...
