Protest

Lafayette, Indiana (the city where my family lives), made national news yesterday.

A local soldier was buried Monday after being killed in Iraq. During the young man's funeral, a group from the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas stood on the street corner shouting anti-war protests and flashing anti-homosexual signs saying that the deaths in Iraq are one of the many ways that God is punishing America for our sinfulness and acceptance of homosexuals.

It is very sad indeed.

God's children? Yes. Christians, Jesus-followers? No. There is absolutely nothing Christ-like in these actions.

You can read about the funeral here and about the protests here and here.

Glory Moment

My daughter was standing on the couch yesterday, looking at a pile of magazines on the end table. She kept saying "Dada, dada, dada."

When I looked over to see why she was saying that, I noticed that she was pointing at a picture of Bradd Pitt on the cover of People.

Oh, yeah.

Choices

Can too much choice be a bad thing? Can options be paralyzing?

I sometimes find myself so overwhelmed by my interests that its hard to not drown in it all. While I love having my hand in all kinds of pots, I certainly envy those who are passionate about one thing.

Part of my evolution will need to be learning the skill of prioritizing. If it's true that "where attention goes, energy will follow," my energy is depleting from being spread out over a number of arenas.

Stay still. Find center. Tat tvam asi. All of it matters and absolutely none of it matters.

Abandoned... (but not completely)

So sorry I've abandoned all my Blogger buddies. Sometimes life takes you down different roads for a while and yet I haven't forgotten about any of you.

Starting next week, I intend on making this a more-regular part of my morning ritual (putting new posts up and reading all of your entries). I've been missing the shared wisdom and coversations that have gone back and forth over these blogs.

I look forward to re-connecting with ya'll.

Much love, Trev.
