Self-Discipline

My favorite definition of it is this:

Self-discipline is not the suppression of desires (or an attempt to keep us from doing what we think we want), rather it is choosing your highest/deepest desire instead of your superficial desire(s) in that moment.

I can't tell you how many times going at it from that angle has helped me stay on track.

Great definition.

I've always been one to learn by not beng self- disciplined to the point of effects causing more pain than the pleasure of self- discipline. Now, I'm learning the lesson you remark on here.

It takes some amount of stillness to let the highest/ deepest to rise or come forth. Yeah- it's always there, but we don't always recognize and give it space to breathe.

Amen to that, Trev.

It's choosing the best over the good. (And you already DO want the best!)
