Quick (zen) Question

Do any of you know anything about or have any experience with the Kwan Um School of Zen (Denomination: Korean Chogye Order)? I'm considering going to check out a Center in Indianapolis...

For that matter, are any of you students of Zen? Thoughts/reflections on your experience with this path?

Sounds interesting and I'm sure will be in order should you decide to check out this path...

...I, too would like to read of the experiences of those versed in Zen and this tradition.

So many doors and each open inwards, inwards always. Let us know of your experiences should you decide to visit.

Your presence would be a blessing, Trev. Your soul is strong and kind.

No takers so far, Tommy!

I'm also working on a post about WHY I'm interested in checking out Zen (initial perceptions) ... look for that tomorrow.

I follow in Thich Nhat Hanh's style of Vietnamese Zen. I appreciate the "stripped down" nature of it and the emphasis on sitting and seeing. It is simple yet strong. I find it hard to put it into words but I hope this helps.

I bow to the buddha in you.

i've been a student of zen for about a year, in the soto tradition. i really love this practice--the emphasis on experience rather than dogma, the practicality and simplicity of it, and the way meditation changes you in subtle ways you never expected. good luck in your search. as far as korean zen goes, i don't know that much, but i read a blog called "zen under the skin" and the author practices in a korean tradition. you might want to check out that site.
